Organise a munch or play munch? Host a BDSM dungeon party in a private or public venue? Then you have come to the right page.
Below you will find guidelines all about how to set up and run your events. Note, we say guidelines. We are not here to tell you how to run your event. Every event and venue is different. The guidelines below need to be tailored to your specific situation.
For more discussion about these guidelines and to meet other Fet event organisers in the UK please type ‘UK Fet Event Organiser Guidelines’ into your Fetlife search bar and hit the join button.
Why are these guidelines needed?
The world has changed. A few decades ago the Fet or BDSM world was small enough that most people knew each other. It was privacy that mattered most. Lots of events were small and held in private homes and venues. Fast forward to 2023 and there are large scale, open to all, BDSM events with hundreds of people attending alongside smaller vetted private events and hundreds of munches.
BDSM is mainstream, so whilst privacy is always a concern, there are other things that need to be taken into consideration when running an event now. These include areas such as Health and Safety, Information Security, GDPR and Safeguarding.
NOTE: whilst the guidelines aim to stay up-to-date with he latest guidance based on UK laws, you must take that responsibility upon your self – we are not trained legal advisors. The guidelines, unless otherwise stated are based upon our knowledge and interpretation of the law.
Who have the guidelines been produced by?
lil_miss_firely as I am known on FetLife is the author and / or have curated the documents below. Having 20 plus years in the BDSM scene, a work history that covers most the topics mentioned above and enjoyed running a few events in my youth, I have has taken it upon myself to bring these guidelines together to help the community I love improve events for attendees and the event organisers.
NOTE: If you run event in other parts of the world feel free to use these documents as a basis for your own guidelines – they are licensed as Creative Commons – just please don’t use them for commercial purposes without speaking to lil_miss_firefly first.
Who is hosting this webpage?
This website is hosted for free by H4DDD which stands for ‘Hosting for Dungeons, Dommes and Drag Queens’ (who happen to be the main clients they work with). They are able to offer extra secure hosting in the UK for those who have websites and e-commerce sites that are often banned from being hosted elsewhere, even when they are actually legal. If you need a website creating they can help you get that sorted too.
